Getting to Nha Trang

Getting to Nha Trang

Getting to Nha Trang is very easy as it is served by all the main transport routes.

Road
Nha Trang is roughly 6 hours from Mui Ne (Phan Thiet) and 12 hours from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). Buses are frequent and if you take one of the tourist companies' routes, comfortable, with AC and reclining seats. A one way journey is about $10, or cheaper as part of an open tour ticket.

It is also possible to get buses to Dalat (~8hrs), Buon Ma Thuot (~6hrs), and on up to Quy Nhon and Hoi An.

Train
Nha Trang is served by the main train route between Saigon and Hanoi and there are more than 10 trains per day. Speeds vary as there are expresses and local services, so make sure you pick the right one. It is possible to take a sleeper to Ho Chi Minh City or Danang (for Hoi An) or Hue, and the train will continue north to Hanoi.

Sleepers are quite comfortable and good value if you are going a long distance. If speed is of the essence, we recommend the '5 Star Train', which travels from NT to Ho Chi Minh City in just 6 hrs, and has a restaurant and bar on board. There are 3 different classes of ticket, standard is roughly the same as a standard Viet train but First Class comes with sofas - although it is only marginally cheaper than flying it is much greener.

Flights
It is possible to fly to Nha Trang from all over the country, using Vietnam Airlines or Pacific Airways (soon to be renamed Jetstar Pacific). The airport is at Cam Ranh, which is about 1hr's drive from Nha Trang.
